Happy Saturday

Happy Saturday, I hope you’re all enjoying the weekend and this great weather we’re having. Instead of going thrift shopping like I usually do on the weekends I’ve decided to stay away from the stores and save my money until my trip next weekend. I soooo love thrift shopping. If you live in the Atlanta area and know of any good thrift stores PLEASE pass along the info to me. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Here's to you 30

Now that I've been 30 for a full two full days I can say that I don't feel any different. Turning 30 has made me take a closer look at life and think about making some changes. I've decided that everyone I disliked for petty reasons would no longer be disliked. Life is too short to hold grudges, besides, when you hold grudges you're only holding yourself back. Unless you've done something unforgivable you're good in my book.

I will admit that 10 years ago you couldn't convince me that I'd be, unmarried and childless. That so wasn't in my 10 year plan but, sometimes life has something totally different in store for you. These last 8 years were amazing, I graduated from college and did a lot of things I never thought I'd get to do.

For my birthday my boyfriend and I went to Cincinnati for the weekend. I'd never been to Kings Island so what better time to go than for my birthday right! We went shopping at the Premier Outlet Mall and Kenwood Mall, had dinner at Pappadeaux and I must say that the shrimp pasta was the best I've ever had! I got lotsssss of gifts, everything I asked for really. Perfume, a web cam, new purse, money (which I used to buy lots of new clothes) clothes, seasons 2 and  of SATC (now all I need to complete my set is 4 and 5) plus other stuff I have yet to collect! I must say that this birthday was the best so far. Last year my aunt flew me to California, took me to Sea World of San Diego, I  did the swim in the water with the dolphin thing, breakfast a Disney land, two trips to the spa, then took me on a cruise to Mexico. All of that and this trip to Kings Island made me so much happier. I'm not saying all of that to brag. Last year I was in a bad place, I was really depressed and just not happy. All of that made me happy for the moment but once it was over and reality set back in, I was still depressed. It wasn't like that this time. The trip is over and I'm still extremely happy. So, I think 30 will be a good year! Hope you all enjoy the pictures. :)

Waiting my turn

They say you're as old as you feel and I still feel great. I decided to do the flying thing they had and it was sooo much fun. I've always been a bit of a dare devil so this was right up my alley. I was a little nervous once I got to the top but hey, I was already there and the only way down was to fly!

30 Eve

The year of the 30 year old 80’s baby is upon us. Bye bye 20 something hello 30, I can’t believe it came so fast. Literally I feel like I just turned 25 and now I’m almost 30.

30 years of life have flown by so fast that last year when I was turning 29 I forgot that 30 was right around the corner. I’ve been shooing everyone that’s been trying to tell me happy birthday, keeping the cards closed until its time and I’ve secretly decided that I won’t answer the phone on my birthday so I wouldn’t have to listen to people sing me happy birthday all day. One of my friends is so anxious for me to turn 30 that she’s decided to send me an instant message everyday for the last week or so. I can’t take it! It’s not like I’m sad about turning 30 (I really am but it sounds good to pretnd I ‘m not) but I just wasn’t ready. No longer can I say I’m 20 something. The great thing is, everyone tells me that I don’t look 30, that makes me feel great! I’m getting over this 30 things, it would happen sooner but my best friend Kim calls me every day to tell me how her body is falling apart now that she’s 30. Yes, all of my friends are 30 or turning 30 this year. This is the year of the 30 year old 1980’s baby!

My 20’s were super fun. I turned 21 in college and can still remember it like it was yesterday. I had my “21” shirt from Old Navy and I went out to a club for the first time, so overrated. The years to follow are kind of blurry but it’s gotten me to where I am now... 30… Oh well, I’ll eventually embrace it. I’ve got great friends, a man who loves me, the best family ever and I’m happy. What more could a girl ask for. I’m going to enjoy this birthday and I’ll post some pics from my trip later!

Happy birthday to everyone turning 30 this year past, present and future

Style Spotlight: Courtney Fields

I caught up with Indianapolis fashionista Courtney Fields and talked with her about her personal style. Whenever I see Courtney I'm always left wondering "where did she get that" because her looks are always so unique, edgy and fashionable. See for yourself!

Tell us a little about yourself, who is Courtney Fields?
Courtney Fields is a self-made business woman made up from various things. City Inc (Amanda, Sherena and Courtney) is a professional party hosting business. C.E.N.T (Courtney, Erica, Nicole, Tiffany) which we put on a fashion show this year during the spring and it was a big success. Stay tuned for Vol. 2. Ms. Fields which is the most important on my list. I am an artist; my style is a R&B/Pop type of vibe. All these things are only so successful because of the fan base I have with my fashion and clothing style from going out or just simply my facebook page.

Where do you get your sense of style? Whenever I see you you’re dressed so cute!
Thanks, I have 2 older sisters and a mother and they have always been my sense if style from a young age. Now I just look at a lot of different people from Rihanna, Kate Moss, Cassie, Misha Barton, Amber Rose, Kim Kardashian and Gwen Steffani just to name a few. I love to look at regular people wear, especially females just out and about at the mall or in magazines.

Where’s your favorite place to shop?
Well I do a lot of local shopping especially boutiques Catwalk, Niche, and of course Forever 21, H&M is my favorite, and Bebe. Although I’m definitely more of an online shopper from sites like Topshop, Urban Outfitters, American Apparel, Pink Ice and Shopstyle just to name a few or I will check out up and coming designers and support them like Laquin Smith.

Usually I will get an idea in my mind and go to Google and just type it in and see what comes up. I must admit I do a lot of random throwing things together as well!!

I see you mix a lot of vintage pieces into your wardrobe, where do you find them?
I do a lot of vintage thrift store shopping because I don’t like to look like everyone else so I mix new with old. Usually I hit up Broad ripple thrifts and places as simple as Goodwill. Also my grandmother used to have a vintage thrift store so I borrow things from her time to time!!

What do you think of the fashion scene here?
I think the fashion scene here has come a long way and I’d have to give credit to Fly Won, City Inc, Jane and Tiffany Fields for getting people to not want to be so Clothes Minded. Not saying there aren’t others that do a great job but these ladies don’t just take the look off the manikin.

Sometimes people say “Ohh Courtney only you could pull that off”. Well that’s not necessarily true I’m just bold enough to do it. Sometimes I feel unsure about a outfit that I put together because it’s not just a display outfit it’s the most random pieces ever but I walk around with my head high and you couldn’t tell me otherwise.

Your sisters are always really cute too; do you all fight over clothes?
Lol Haha No, even though we are all very stylish we still have different style. Nicole is very sophisticated, Tiffany and I are the most alike but she’ll be like you should wear this just because it looks like me. Amanda is more settle but very cute at the same time and I’m extra and that’s why I’m me!

Before you go, I have to ask about a rumor I keep hearing. Are you creating a clothing line? Can you tell us a little about it?
Yes, my sisters and I created Juice Mami (coming soon). We actually premiered some of our looks at C.E.N.T. fashion show in spring and we have gotten a lot of positive feed back form people. Juice Mami is urban with a slap of high fashion. Right now our look is very Futuristic Jetson with the shoulder pads but we will also have a more soft cocktail/ party dress line as well.

If you're interested in seeing more of Courtney you can follow her at MsCFields

Fashion Wrap Up Launch Party

Yesterday I attended the launch party of the online magazine Fashion Wrap Up and it was everything I expected it to be.  Upon arrival I was greeted by the paparazzi who snapped pictures of me as I walked across the red carpet. The venue was absolutely amazing and perfect for the event. I loved it because it was both an indoor and outdoor party.

Once I made it inside the venue I instantly knew that it had all of the makings of a fabulous event! There was delicious food, vendors, a garden fashion show by Designer Gabriela Frezza of Gaby Couture and a live band outside. I was handed my VIP wristband and a "swag bag" then sent off to enjoy the evening! People were mingling and buying things from the vendors. Everyone looked like they were thoroughly enjoying themselves. This was definitely not a tshirt and jeans event. Everyone was dressed to impress. I met lots of fabulous people including celebrity MUA's Mikaela and Georgio Fernandez from Miami.

Once the band was done playing the fashion show started and one by one the models made their way from the staircase down the runway. Gaby was the only featured designer so the show only lasted about 20 minutes but it was a great show! The models did a great job and I was impressed. All in all this event was the perfect way to celebrate the launching of the website! Way to go Christy!!!!!

Solange Knowles on her "Shoe Game"

In a recent interview with  Refinery29 Solange said that she "can't even fuck with you if your shoe game is slacking."  Solo believes that most people can put a cute outfit together but when it gets to the shoes they're seriously slacking. Solo also talked about how her style is inspired by the 70's version of her mother, Diana Ross, The Fela Kuti Queens, Björk, '70s-era Chaka Khan, Chloë Sevigny, '90s Erykah Badu. Check the article out and see more pictures of Solange.
Solo is pictured in Christian Louboutin in both pictures
