Tis' the season, to Fall in love

Well my fellow fashion lovers, we are now in my season. Most people love summer but fall is my favorite season of the year. I love the weather, it's perfect. I love the way the leaves start to change colors, when the fall on the ground and you step on them they make a crunch sound. I LOVE THAT! I also love the fall fashions, boots, sweaters, trench coats, it's absolutely fabulous. Another thing I love about fall is that its the perfect season to FALL in love!

Lately I've been hearing a lot of people talk about the lack of available "good" men but I know several so they must be looking in the wrong place. Because this blog is also about love and life and I LOVE to play match maker, I'm taking it upon myself to introduce you to several men that you may want to know. They're respectful, hardworking, career oriented men who are ready to settle down. Starting October 1st I will update my blog daily (week days only) with men who I feel are trustworthy and an all around great catch. These men are out there I just think people are looking in the wrong place. Most of the people that will be featured in these posting are people that I actually know. Others are friends of friends, people that they suggested and think would make someone very happy! For the men (because I know you read my blog) I'm also going to include women who I believe would make you Fall in love. They're successful, self-sufficient and beautiful. I was going to wait until February since it's the month of love but I said hey, do it now, that way they'll meet, fall in love and be able to go on a date for valentine's day. Feel free to leave comments but you must be respectful or your comment will never be seen.

Rise of the Metro Man: Men who carry purses

Ok so let's acknowledge the pink elephant in the room. What the hell is up with men carrying purses? They like to call them "man bags or a murse" but let's go ahead and call a spade a spade, it's a purse. How much stuff do they have to carry and what exactly are they putting in these purses lip gloss? That's what pockets are for. Right? Am I being a hater here? I love fashion but this is one trend I don't get. Celebs from Kayne West to Joel Madden have been spotted carrying a purse. The justification is that they're larger than a purse, I have big purses. If my babe walked through the door carrying a purse that would be immediate grounds for dismissal. So sorry, take your purse and get out. But that's just me. How do you feel about men carrying purses?  And, they're carrying these purses like I carry mine Robert Downey Jr. Terrance Howard has the nerve to be carrying a clutch. Stephon Marbury, carrying in your hand doesn't negate the fact that it's a purse, sorry. Lastly, Jamie Foxx, that's a purse, not a messenger bag. What's ups with that? I can't, I just can't...

Duckie Duckie Goose... Duckie Brown Spring 2011 RTW Collection

They did it again! The Duckie Brown collection was amazing. I loved the pieces. I'm not sure how I feel about the men with bags but its seems like all of the metro men from Kayne West to Chris Bosh are carrying purses or "man bags" as they like to call them but we all know exactly what they are.... Anyway, check out the pieces. For the full collection (and it's HUGE) click here!

Sachika Twins Take Over NYFW

To-Nya and To-Tam or the Sachika Twins (as they're more commonly called) are quietly taking over the fashion world. When I met them in March I knew that they were well on their way to the top and in 6 short months they seem to have climbed over the top and have reached a new level that most don't make it to this soon. I absolutely love them, they're super sweet and simply gorgeous. (see for yourself)

If you missed their show last night like I did you really missed out. From the looks of it, the show was heavily attended by lots of celebrities and the clothes were fabulous... as I knew they would be. As promised I have some pictures from the show that I'm sure you'll love. Photographer Marco Sagliocco was kind enough to let me use his images. He's a great photographer! Thanks. :)

Marc Jacobs RTW Spring 2011: I'm soooo in love

I'm soooo in love with this collection. I literally loved almost every piece. This is one of the largest collections I've seen so far. He had over 50 looks and they were FABULOUS. Click here for the complete collection. Jacobs treated guests such as Andre Leon Talley, J Alexander, Robert Duffy and Rachel Zoe to one hell of a show.

Tracy Reese: New York Fashion Week

I've always loved Tracy Reese's collections. Her pieces are always fashionable and classy. She had a lot of celebs at her show such as Angela Simmons, Denise Richards, Aisha Taylor and Veronica Webb. One thing that I didn't like about this show was the models. Reese had some of them in glasses that didn't photograph well. I think it was the fact that they were making faces while wearing them. Check out the model in the black skirt. I also felt like their hair should have been put up or at least pulled back. It really took away from the overall look of the clothes. I really like the tan sweater that the model below in the hat has on but you can barely see it because her hair is so long.  Click here for more pictures.

On The Road Again

So as many of you who read my blog know we drove my little sister Gigi to college in Savannah last Wednesday. I thought the drive to Atlanta was beautiful but driving through the smokies was amazing. I snapped a few shots (ignore the mirror) as we traveled down the highway. It was a fun ride, I slept and watched movies most of way so I wasn't too bored. We left at 6 in the morning and got there around 7:30ish because we made a few stops.

We got there kind of late so most of the shops downtown where we were staying were closed so we just walked around a little and explored the area. Savanannah is absolutely beautiful but after staying there for 4 days I can say with confidence that I wouldn't want to live there. The next day was full of us doing what we do best (shopping) and then hanging on the beach. Ahhhh, so relaxing. I could have used another day or two on the beach but hey, maybe next time.

Christian Siriano

Just like I thought, Siriano delivered! I loved his collection!!!! I didn't want to put up every piece so I selected the best of the best (in my opinion) to give you a taste of what his collection looked like. If you want to see more click here for the full collection.

Custo Barcelona: NYC Fashion Week

So I just returned from Georgia after several days and I seem to have missed a lot of the shows so I'll try to catch up as quick as possible. I'll post pictures from my trip later on today. We drove down to SCAD in Savannah to drop my sister off for her first year of college. The town is really nice but I definitely wouldn't want to live there.

Well, here are some of my favorite looks from the Custo Barcelona RTW show. Some of them I like together, most I would wear with other pieces.

Sachika: Join The Movement

It looks like the Sachika Twins, To-Nya and To-Tam will steal the spotlight at this seasons' NYFW. They've booked celebs such as Cherri Dennis, Angela and Vanessa Simmons, Denyce Lawton (I so love her, she's gorgeous), Adrienne Bailon and many many more to work the runway during their show which will be held at the Metropolitan Pavilion September 14th at 2pm. This was one of the shows I was actually going to work I'm so sad that I won't be in town. You may remember this interview I did with them several months ago after the Midwest Fashion Week show they were featured in. If you're in the NYC area this is definitely a show you won't want to miss. I'll try to get pics and maybe a quick video from the show because I'm sure it will very entertaining.

The twins have dressed celebrities from Nicki Minaj, the cast of New York Housewives, Patti Stangler and even Ms. Berry. As I said before, if you don't have a Sachika dress, you better get one before they're no longer in your price range. The black "Moon Dress" that Nicki Minaj is wearing is still my favorite!

For tickets/press/rsvp email: HAUTEPR@gmail.com

If you make it to this or any of the other shows please share your pics!

Clearer Vision

I’ve been putting off making my vision board for months. I bought the board and put it in my second bedroom behind the closet door and forgot all about it. I realized that I needed to focus on what I’m really trying to do with my life. I’m ready to go back to school and work on my Masters degree (I just applied) and I definitely need to plan. I know that when you fail to plan to plan to fail and I don’t want to fail. I googled the word vision board just to get a few ideas on how people organized theirs. I know exactly what I want in life so getting the pictures wasn’t hard at all. I printed the pictures, brought them home then let them sit on the table for a week. One of my facebook friends was talking about vision boards so I knew God was telling me to get it together. I feel like having this in front of me will keep reminding me of what I’m trying to accomplish.

I somewhat completed my board. It’s a great start. I went through some old magazines and found some words that I thought were encouraging and applied to me. The pictures are self-explanatory some of the phrases I chose were:

I can do anything
Saying it with style
I have a completely different story
Embrass Passion
And you don’t stop
What will your story be

How clear is your vision? Do you have a board? Do you know where your story ends?

Duckie Brown: Get to know them!

Creative Directors Daniel Silver and David Cox seem to awe their audience every season with their fashionable menswear. I absolutely love their coats. The collection they showed last season was incredible. It's rare that I do a post on a menswear designers but these two are definitely worth a look.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2011; 8 days and counting

Well my fellow fashion lovers, in 8 days the upper east side of New York City will be swarming with models, designers and other fashion lovers all in line ready to see and participate in the next big show. New York Fashion Week is scheduled to take place at the Lincoln Center (no more Bryant Park) from September 9-16.  I was really excited because this was going to be the first year I ever attended the shows but the designer I was going to work with canceled her show. There's always next season and I really want to be there. Maybe next season I'll just apply to work with a lot of other designers.

Some shows worth seeing this season will be:
Christian Siriano
BCBGMAXAZARIA
Duckie Brown -- Ok, if you don't know about Duckie Brown please watch on youtube. Love Love Love DB
Binetti -- I love how the clothes seem to come to life on the runway. The just flow as the model walks
Cynthia Rowley
Tracy Reese

There are other I didn't want to bore you with a long list. For the complete list with times and locations click here
