Aoki Lee Simmons' Fashion Show Birthday Party

Mini Mogul Aoki Lee Simmons daughter of Kimora Lee Simmons Honsou and Russel Simmons celebrated her 8th birthday in style at Modani in West Hollywood. Much like her mother Aoki Lee is a little fashionista so I expected her to have a fabulous birthday party.

In true Simmons fashion Aoki Lee decided to have a fashion show complete with a runway hair stylist and an MUA for her birthday. It was a black and white Chanel themed party (check out the cake). Aoki Lee and her big sister Ming Lee love to give back and help others, Kimora is raising them well. Not only was this fashion show for her birthday, it was also for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Congratulations Miss Mexico

Jimena Navarrete Miss Mexico

After beating out 82 other contestants Miss Mexico was crowned Miss Universe August 23, 2010. The beautiful 22 year-old native of Guadalajara Mexico was asked by Olympic gold-medal figure skater Evan Lysacek how she felt about unsupervised Internet use.

"I do believe that Internet is an indispensable, necessary tool for the present time," she said through an interpreter. "We must be sure to teach them the values that we learned as a family."

The beauty won a package of prizes including an undisclosed salary, a luxury New York apartment with living expenses, a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy with housing after her reign, plus jewelry, clothes and shoes.

Kimora leaves Baby Phat

In what can only be described as HELL FREEZING OVER Queen Fabulousity herself has announced that after 14 years, come September 1st she will be leaving Baby Phat. I’m not sure why she’s leaving but I know that she didn’t quit and Baby Phat will never be the same. It is because of Kimora that Baby Phat has evolved to what it is today. Without Kimora the line would still consist of t-shirts instead she used her creative genius to create a complete line and even branched off to create accessories, shoes, make-up and a kids line. People love this line so much that they’ve tattooed the cat on their bodies in honor of the fabulous one.

All of my readers know that I’ve wanted to work for Kimora for the last 5 years so this really makes me sad. I do know that Kimora will be A-Ok, she’s a winner and will come out on top. She has her tv show, her fabulousness and the three clothing lines that she created Fabulousity, Kouture by Kimora and KLS.

Kimora’s twitter followers began speculating after she only mentioned her lines not associated with Baby Phat in an announcement that she was looking for models. One follower asked if she was still with Baby Phat and she replied “As of sept, sadly NOT!” I don’t know if the execs over at Baby Phat realize this but people only bought Baby Phat because of Kimora, they wanted to feel like they were part of her world. Kimora is Baby Phat. I’m unsure how the line will do now that she’s leaving but we shall see. So, in the words of Kimora herself “On to the next one.”

“After 14 years of conceiving and nurturing Baby Phat, it’s time for me to move on and further expand my other businesses and create a new phenomenon. I adore all those who have faithfully been with me since the beginning. I’m forever dedicated to my family, fans and customers. My inspiration has always come from the fabulous women who have been with me through the years as we’ve grown from young party girls to power players! We’re ready for our next journey together and we’re taking a whole new generation of incredible young women with us. Girl power unite!”

Halle lands the September Cover of Vogue

The beautiful Halle Berry is on the cover of the September issue of Vogue. There was lots of talk about who would get the cover and I'm so happy that Berry's beautiful face is covering the issue. I'm not too thrilled about the wig she's wearing but her beauty shines through it. From what I hear Berry is the first African American woman of African descent to cover the September issue since Naomi Campbell in 1989. Way to go Halle! Enjoy a sneak peek of the spread!

Until We Meet Again ATL

This trip to Atlanta was exactly what the doctor called for. It was a perfect getaway from our every day lives and a great way to bring in 30 with the old man. lol We shopped, ate, and did a lot of hanging out. I told you it was perfect. Our last night there we went to the Velvet Room and as I said in a previous post, it was definitely the place to be. It was crowded from end to end and the dj played great music. I wanted some club food but I waited too long to come to the realization and by then the kitchen was closed. Instead of eating we took lots of pics and just enjoyed the music. At some point Rick Ross showed up but I didn't see him. Heard him, but didn't see him.

On our last day there (my boo's actual birthday) we went to visit my cousin Chandrea and her baby Chayse one last time, did a little more shopping then went to eat. We wanted to eat at Gladys Knight and Ron Winan's Chicken and Waffle's but the wait was like an hour and fifteen minutes. It was 2:00, I had a serious problem with the amount of people out and about. Its not like it was lunchtime. I couldn't figure out for the life of me why there were so many people just out. Do people not work on Monday's in Atlanta? We ended up going to a soulfood resturant called Busy Bee. The food was ok but not as good and I wanted it to be. The waitress called for everyone's attention because she wanted us to sing happy birthday to some twins. I interupted and let everyone know it was my boo's birthday as well so we all sang happy birthday to him and the twins! We finished our food then hit the road headed back home. :( No worries, I think we've settled on a place to relocate. See you soon ATL!

Fantasia Attempts Suicide

In no way is my blog all about celebrity gossip, what they're wearing yes, doing, not so much. After hearing and reading about this story with Fantasia I had to do a posting on it. In no way am I judging Fanny because I don't have a clue what that man was telling her about his marriage. I do know that his wife, Paula Cook is suing Fanny for breaking up their marriage. I kind of have mixed feelings about that because Cook should go after her husband not the other woman. In the same breath I can say that Fanny is part of the problem and maybe she should be the example. She is a part of the growing number of celebrities is a narcissists who feel like they can have whatever they want, including your man. This celebrity man snatching thing seems to be the new trend. Gabrielle Union snatched Dwayne Wade, Alicia Keys married Swiss Beatz and now Fanny is trying to kill herself.

Back to what this post is really about. Like I said I don't know what Antwaun Cook told Fantasia about his marriage so who am I to judge. My problem is the attempted suicide, I don't feel sorry for her. What I feel is more like disgust. That was so very selfish of her. If she had been successful in her attempt to kill herself who would have be responsible for her daughter? Why should Zion have to grow up motherless because Fantasia can't handle the pressure from the mess she created? According to Radar Online Fanny is doing fine but she should really be ashamed of herself.

Another ATL post

Day three of our trip was filled with as much shopping as days 1 and 2. We seriously need an intervention asap.  I always joke that I'll be the flyest chick on skid row. lol I love thrift shopping, if you read my blog that's no secret to you. I was excited to hear about the "lil 5 points" area in Atlanta that was filled with thrift stores. I told my boo that this was the only thing I wanted to do other than visit my family. So, we hop in the car and head over to the lfp. Now, when we get there the first store we go into was Junkman's Daughter.

I can say there was something for everyone in this store. What I didn't like was that this store, much like all the other stores I went into were really overpriced. I looove thrift stores and thrift store prices but some of the same things I pay less than a dollar for at the Salvation Army were like $30 in one of the stores I went in. NO THANK YOU. My man did get me a really cute "I Am A Fashion Head" shirt from a boutique called Bill Hallman (I think that's the name of it).

I ended up getting a dress from another boutique and a BCBG dress from Rag-O-Rama but outside of that we just took pictures. There was a store in the area that my boo wanted to go to so we ended our shopping trip at Wish then headed to Lenox and Perimeter malls for even more shopping. Surprisingly enough, I didn't buy much at either mall.

For dinner that evening we decided on Bahama Breeze, one of our fav restaurants that we used to frequent on a regular basis before they packed up without notice and left us high and dry. Speaking of dry, my calypso shrimp pasta that I just knew would be delicious was really dry. And, believe it or not another gnat decided to go swimming in my drink. They have the best lemonade in the world and I was pissed that a gnat decided to drink from my glass. The gnat and dry pasta made my dinning experience very sub par. Until next time

Happy Birthday Babe

So, for my boyfriends birthday we packed up and headed south to Atlanta. The drive down was nothing short of amazing. I haven't been to Atlanta since I was in high school so I definitely didn't remember how beautiful the mountains in Tennessee were. I wanted to get out and take pictures of myself along the highway but I figured taking pics in the moving car would be a lot safer. There was a random truck driver that kept blowing and winking at me every time we caught up to one another. I started to flash him (with my boo's encouragement) but chickened out at the last minute...... We were in ATL for four days and took advantage of every moment. I wanted to have everything planned out but Terry (my man) just wanted to do whatever so that's exactly what we did.

The first day we got there was really rainy so we didn't take many pics. We went to Atlantic Station, had dinner, did a little shopping and went out later that evening. We went to a club called Life. Under normal circumstances this wouldn't have been my type of crowd but since I was with my man I decided to stay and I had so much fun. The dj was great, he played songs I hadn't heard in years. The drinks were overpriced and there was a gnat enjoying my drink before I had the opportunity to take a drink.

We partied hard then woke up the next morning and went shopping. Ok, I love to shop it's my most favorite thing to do. My man, loves shopping just as much. I found a really cute pair of Steve Madden pumps on clearance for $20, I was so excited. We shopped most of the day then headed out to Douglasville to visit my aunt and uncle. I also got to see my cousins new baby Chayse, he's so handsome. We stayed a little too long because our attempt at partying a second night in a row failed. I wasted a fab dress but got some great shots!

Sunday Nights at the Velvet Room

The Velvet Room is the place to be on a Sunday night in Atlanta. Because of that reason my boyfriend and I had to be there. It was lots of fun and the club was really nice. Rick Ross was there celebrating something. I couldn't really see him because we were on opposite sides of the club but leaving out I saw how crowded his VIP section was.

For the most part everyone was dressed really cute so I decided to ask a couple of people if I could take pictures for my blog. At first I wasn't so sure but after an apple martini or two it was easier to ask a strange for their picture. Enjoy!

They were my favs. I love Asia's yellow dress. She looks so cute. Her friends look was cute as well. I hope she's a model. She's so tall!
